Riley sighed as she stared up at the ceiling of the barn. It was about three o’ clock, and she had spent the past 2 hours in the barn, drawing. At the moment, she was laying down in the loft of the barn. Any moment, she was expecting the loft to just give way, but it still hadn’t, and she had been up there for a half hour. “Boring,†she said in a sing song voice.
Rolling over she knocked her sketchbook and pencil to the ground below. With a sigh, Riley looked over the edge down at the items on the ground. Her sketchbook now lay open with her pencil next to it. “I should probably get those…†she said with a sigh. Standing up she looked down, trying to guess the amount of height between her and the ground. “It would be a lot faster to jump. I’m sure I can do it,†she said sounding confident. Jumping down in an instant her feet came in contact with the ground and she let out a pained yell before falling back on her but.
Grabbing both of her ankles and scrunching up her face in pain Riley yelled, “damn it, that hurt!†The shock from landing the ground was making her feet throb. Lying on her side, still clutching her ankles she decided to file away jumping off of a barn loft in the very bad idea potion of her brain. After making the mental note she began to wonder if anyone had heard her exclamations, and also, why would there even be anyone around here anyway.

Max and his friends were walking to the old barn to hang out and maybe do some graffiti. Just when they were about to start, a thud came out of the barn. Soon after his friends ran off being 'spooked' from old sayings. He rolled his eyes and started to walk after them. Suddenly Max heard a louder thud then a girl scream in pain. He raised his eyebrows as he walked over to the barn down and looked around the frame.
He saw a girl lying down on the floor holding her ankles. He looked up to see the loft above her. "You know, you really shouldn't be jumping off things, it's not the smartest thing to do." He smirked. His friends had jumped off of the loft many times, practically killing their sides from laughing so hard from the pain of the person who jumped. He walked over to her, "Are you alright?" he asked trying to hid his smile.

Looking up when she heard someone speak, Riley found who had spoken and kept her eyes on him. Rolling her eyes at what he said she said, "Well, I realize that now. It seemed like a good idea at the time though."
Moving into a sitting position she shrugged her shoulders. "I'm pretty sure I'm okay. No worries," Riley said in a happy tone. The throbbing in her feet hadn't really stopped, but she was sure she could still walk so why worry about it. "So, what's your name?" Riley asked.

He nodded."It is much quicker," he smiled, "but it does take longer to get over the effects." As the girl shifted into a sitting position, he noticed a notepad and pencil on the ground beside her, but was distracted by the girl talking once more. "Well, thats good. Wouldn't want to help you all the way back to civilization, that be to troublesome. I might have had to just leave you out here, until I could find help, or I could have forgotten all about you. But you're probably okay, like you said." he said walking closer to the girl.
"Max Collins." He replied to the girl's question, "And, your name?" He then remembered the paper and considered what she used it for, with there only being one logical use."So, you draw?" He asked as he walked over to the pad of paper.

"You certainly sound like a knight in shining armor. I'm so glad you were the one to find me," Riley said with a small smirk. At his reply to her question she smiled and said, "Well Max my name is Riley Bradney."
Since the throbbing had just about subsided, Riley stood up and began to dust the dirt and what not off of her. "Hm, what?" she asked looking up from her dusting. "Oh! Well yes, I draw. I mean, I'm not like super good at it or anything, but I like to think of myself as good," Riley said, practically stumbling over her words. If there was one thing she was always embarrassed and shy about it was her art. Watching him walk over to her sketchbook, Riley bit her lip nervously.

Max smiled, "Really?" then he thought,'Bet you wouldn't think so. if you knew why I was here..' he gave a quiet laugh to himself. "Nice to meet you, Riley."
He watched Riley as she shortly rambled about her drawing. Max liked to consider his art good too, only he used a paint can and a blank wall, rather than pencil and paper. He noticed that she looked a little nervous with him close to her sketchbook, and decided not to ask about looking at her art, no matter how bad he wanted to. He changed the subject to him, "Yeah, I know what you mean, I do art too." well at least he considered graffiti art, while other people didn't.

"Really?!" she asked, excited that she had met another artist. Walking over to her sketchbook, Riley picked up the book and her pencil. While trying to brush some off the dirt off of it she looked at Max. Her curiosity about what he did was much to great. Riley just had to ask.
"So what do you do then? Realism, sketching, cartoons, animation, sculpting, painting? Eh, I can't really think of anymore off of the top of my head. I hope you don't mind me asking," Riley said.

"Oh... umm..." Max ran his fingers through his hair, he should have known that she would ask. He decided not to tell her exactly what way he showed his art, not until he got to know her better, if of coarse the started speaking more." I guess you could say I paint." He said seeing that he could consider graffiti as painting. "What about you? Do you just draw? Or are you interested in other forms of art?"

Riley smiled warmly while waiting for him to answer her question. His delay seemed odd to her, but she wouldn't say anything. "Painting? That's cool. I'm not to good at that. Never liked the fact that I couldn't erase with paint," she said.
"It's pretty much just drawing for me. I've tried other things, but drawing and sketching I enjoy most..." Riley said. "What kind of painting? Scenic or people?" she asked.

"Yeah, but it makes you better at covering up your mistakes." Max commented off his painting experience. He liked they way that you had to find a way to fix the problem, if, of coarse, you made the mistake in the first place.
Her next question made Max try to think of an answer. " Well, I paint both really. It just depends on which picture, or how I want it to look. Most of my paintings are extremely detailed." He made his choice of words carefully, and hoped it sounded natural enough. "What do you mostly draw?"
