Desiree was sitting out in the courtyard watching people pass by or sitting on the grass. She sat under a tree, well the only big tree in the middle of the courtyard her camera in hand. From time to time she would snap a picture of someone walking out or of a bird that flew by.
Desiree smiled as the sun came out from behind the clouds and laid down on the grass smiling up looking at the sky. It was much nicer here then back in New York City she had to admit, the air was so clean and the sky was so blue. She took a picture of the sky as a flock of birds flew by over head casting a shadow in the courtyard as they did so.

Michael wandered out into the courtyard, enjoying the feel of the sun on his face. He was wearing a tightish brown t-shirt and some blue Levi jeans, held up with a black belt; his usual atire. He glanced around and spotted Desiree. He smiled softly to himself before sauntering over, scuffing his dirty white trainers along the ground.
He shivered slightly as he entered the shade of the tree but still made his way over. "Hi..." he said, almost sheepishly. He leant sidways against the tree, the bark rough against his tanned skin. He didn't make a habit of talking to people but Desiree was different. She didn't make him feel nervous and ill at ease like other people did.

Desiree straightened up to take some more pictures, she smiled photography was her favorite thing to do besides reading. She looked through the pictures she already took then looked up hearing a voice and smiled as she saw it was Michael.
"Hi Michael" she said just as sheepishly back. The first time she met him she couldn't help but not stare, he wasn't like other guys she'd met and well he seemed mysterious and that wanted her to get to know him more better. "How are you?" She asked sitting up and putting her camera to the side gently.

He grinned and nodded. "Yea, I'm good," he said, sliding down the tree trunk to sit next to her. "You? Having fun with your camera again?" For a learned 150 year old, he was sounding amazingly stupid. He gulped and glanced at her then down at his feet. He absentmindedly brushed a fly away from his next, still looking intently at his shoes. For goodness sake, he was being rediculous. She was just a girl; a normal, human girl. Why was he reacting like this?

Desiree smiled as she looked down at her camera and nodded "Yeah I'm having fun" she said as she looked up at him. He was looking down at his shoes and had got the urge to hug him, she shook her head as to shake that thought off. She wasn't ready to date again not after what happened with her ex-boyfriend. Having your heart broken was the worst thing that can happen and well Desiree wasn't quite healed from it. "So" she said trying to start another conversation, it seemed she couldn't find her voice whenever she was around him, odd because Desiree was quite the talker.

Michael smiled awkwardly. "So..." he echoed. "It's a nice day," he commented. How pathetic! Talking about the weather. He mentally slapped himself and shut his eyes for a second, wondering how she'd respond. "It's a nice day for photography." he said, trying to sound a little less wet. "Erm...good light and all."

Desiree smiled as she looked down well this was awkward "Yes it is a nice day for photography" she said as she picked up her camera. "The sun light is the best light makes the pictures just" she paused she didn't know how to explain it, she couldn't really explain the way she thought photography is. Desiree tried to find words but nothing came she let out a small laugh and shook her head "I really don't know how to explain it" she admitted sheepishly as she looked up at him. Why was it so hard for her to talk to him he was just a guy, but then again she had never met a guy like him before.

Michael chuckled quietly, ruffling his hair with one of his large, rough hands. "You know," he said, his heart banging in his chest. "I was wondering if you wanted to...well, I dunno, catch a movie together?" He went red and kept his eyes fixed on his shoes, not wanting to look at her.

Desiree looked up at Michael, as much as she wanted to smile she kept calm playing with her fingers to keep her distracted. She she felt her face go hot as she blushed "Yeah sure I'd like that" she said still not looking up at him. Her heart was racing a hundred times then what it normally should and she started to breath in and out to stop her heart from racing. Why couldn't she act calm when she was around Michael, she did with any other guy but then again he didn't seem like any other guy.

Michael grinned and looked at her, so relieved she wanted to go out with him. He didn't really know what to say so he just laughed nervously and ruffled his hair again. "Er, are you free on Friday night?" he asked, trying his hardest not to chicken out and look away.

Desiree looked up and smiled at him, it was not like she had anything to do on Friday night, her parents were gone for the weekend and well she didn't want to stay at the house all night. "Yes" she said as she blushed a little she wondered why she said yes to him but then again she wanted to get to know him better. There was something about him that made him different from everyone else.

He grinned and pushed himself to his feet again, so he was looking down at her. "Great, you have my email, don't you? If you message me your address I'll pick you up at seven..." He smiled again then, before his brain had time to scream NO, he leaned forward and gave her a peck on the cheek. He stood upright again and went red before giving a small jerk, which could be classed as a wave, and hurried away.

Desiree nodded remembering she had his e-mail she looked down at her hands she couldn't believe she was actually going to go out with Michael. She looked up again and nodded "Seven sounds good" she smiled. But then her heart started racing again as he kissed her on the cheek, she blushed a bright red as she waved good bye and watched him walk away. She just wanted to shout but she sat calm, breathing in and out to keep her heart from racing.
